Keeps watching (PC)The PC version tucks itself beside the clock and keeps watching after you close the window. It can also start by itself when you turn the PC on.

A home-screen icon (phone)On a phone, "Add to Home Screen" gives you an ordinary-looking app icon. No app store involved.

02Where it looks

It does not rely on a single source. It looks at all of the following at once, merges duplicate stories, and lists them newest first.

Google News (Japanese and English)
Bing News (Japanese and English)
New entries on Hatena Bookmark (only where the name is in the headline)
Edits to the Japanese Wikipedia article
A YouTube channel, if you add one
Any RSS/Atom feed you add yourself (PC version only)

It keeps only headlines, sources and dates — never the article text. Open the article itself to read on.

A single file (nothing to install)

Just open the downloaded file. There is no installation. Delete the file when you no longer want it.

To use it on a phone

Open the phone version

Once it opens: on iPhone use Share then "Add to Home Screen"; on Android use the three-dot menu. After that, open it from the icon. On a phone it tells you while the screen is open.

When opening the file for the first time: if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC," click "More info" then "Run anyway" (this appears because the file is not digitally signed).

04How to use it

Type a person or a topic in the box at the top and press Add.
The first time, it quietly takes in what is already out there, without making a sound.
From then on it only speaks up when something new appears, in the way you chose.
Under "detailed settings" you can change how it tells you, record your own voice, or add a YouTube channel.
It can look every five minutes, up to every six hours. Fifteen minutes to start with.

05Requirements and terms of use

PC version: Windows 10 / 11. It uses Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome to show its screen, and needs an internet connection.
Phone version: iPhone (Safari) or Android (Chrome). Can be added to the home screen.
The spoken voice is whatever Japanese voice your device already has. Without one, it tells you on screen only.
The names you enter, the voice you record and the stories it gathers all stay on your own device. None of it is sent to us.
The articles belong to their own publishers; we have no part in them. Free to use, at your own risk.

The PC and phone versions each remember their own list. Use either one, or both.
