01What Is Magic Mirror?
It applies the idea of a magic mirror — invisible from the outside, ordinary from the inside — to your PC's network connection. Turning the switch ON blocks unsolicited incoming connections and stops responding to ping (a way to check whether a PC is there from outside), so the PC appears to be "not there" from the outside. Meanwhile, communication your PC starts on its own keeps working exactly as before.

Download MagicMirror_Setup.zip
The zip contains the setup program (MagicMirrorSetup.exe) plus help and description files in both Japanese and English. Extract it and run the setup — you can choose whether to add a shortcut to the desktop, Start menu, and/or taskbar (the app and installer automatically match your Windows language setting).
When opening the file for the first time: if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC," click "More info" then "Run anyway" (this appears because the file is not digitally signed). Also, each time you flip the switch, Windows shows a confirmation screen (User Account Control) once — this is Windows itself confirming a change to a security-related firewall setting.
03Requirements and terms of use
- Windows 10 / 11.
- Magic Mirror blocks unsolicited incoming connections; it is not a substitute for antivirus software. It cannot prevent infection from visiting a malicious site or downloading a file, so please use it alongside antivirus software.
- Free to use. Since this app changes firewall settings, please use it only once you understand what it does. Use at your own risk.
Magic Mirror began as an in-house "make it invisible from outside" switch, rebuilt here for anyone to use.
