01Use Cases

02What You Need & Steps

  1. Install a home-security app on the old phone, such as Alfred Camera or IP Webcam
  2. Install the same app on the viewing device and log in with the same account
  3. Fix the camera phone in place where you want to watch, keeping it plugged in and on Wi-Fi
  4. Change the settings so the screen does not auto-lock
  5. Leave the app running in camera mode
  6. Turn on motion detection to get notified only when something moves

03Recommended Apps

Alfred CameraFree to start, with motion detection and notifications
IP Webcam (Android)The video can also be checked from a browser
TP-Link home-security appFor those who already have a TP-Link security camera

04Notes

Keeping recordings in the cloud usually requires a paid plan.

Local storage (on the phone or an SD card) is free, but the oldest footage is usually deleted automatically once it fills up.

If the camera will show people, please be mindful of their privacy.
