01Features

One click after entering the numberEnter the recipient's FAX number and press "Send." Filling in the recipient and sending happens automatically.

Drag-and-drop or paste imagesJust drag a photo or image file onto the window to attach it. Right after a Snipping Tool capture, or right after copying cells in a spreadsheet app like Excel, Ctrl+V attaches it directly.

Send straight from right-clickRight-click an image file and choose "Send via WFS FAX" (etc.) — the app opens with that file already attached.

Sent and received historySwitch between New, Sent, and Received with tabs. Both sent and received FAXes are listed in chronological order.

Runs resident and notifies you on arrivalOnce started it runs resident, staying in the system tray even after the window is closed. When a FAX arrives, a "FAX受信" notice appears in the bottom-right corner and stays until clicked. The receive sound can be turned on or off.

Choose to save a received FAX as an image or WordOn the Received tab, choose whether an arriving FAX is kept as an image or converted with text recognition (OCR) into a Word document close to the original look. A searchable PDF format is still in development.

Choose your own FAX setupDuring installation, you choose which printer (FAX driver) on your own PC to use.

Two sending methods"WFS" is for the Windows Fax feature (modem); "WFO" is for a multifunction printer's FAX driver, such as OKI's. Install both and use whichever fits.

02WFS or WFO — which one?

WFS

For PCs with a FAX modem connected, already set up in Windows' "Fax and Scan."
Requires an analog phone line.
You get an automatic notice on receiving (it stays until clicked; the sound can be turned on or off).

WFO

For network multifunction printers with FAX capability, with the maker's FAX-sending driver already installed.
Currently verified with OKI's Universal FAX driver. It may not work with other manufacturers' drivers.
Since these printers print an incoming FAX to paper automatically, the app can't detect a received FAX by itself (you can log it manually).

What you need (a USB phone modem is required for faxing)

Sending and receiving faxes needs a "USB phone modem" and an analog phone line

One USB phone modem (fax-capable, connected by USB). Choose one that works as a fax modem in Windows Fax and Scan.
An analog phone line (the socket you plug a phone or fax into) and a phone cord to the modem.
A Windows 10 / 11 PC, with the modem set up in Windows Fax and Scan.
The modem receives only while the PC is running. To receive while the PC is off, a multifunction printer can receive and forward faxes to the PC (item 5 in the table).
The free Easy FAX can also send through a multifunction printer's fax driver instead of a USB phone modem (WFO; received faxes are printed by the printer and recorded by hand on the PC).

The USB phone modem links the PC to the phone line. Without it, faxes can be neither sent nor received.

Installer (with help and description files)

New version in preparation

Downloads are paused while a new version is being prepared. Please wait a little longer for its release.

The zip contains the installer (FaxApp_Setup.exe) plus help and description files in both Japanese and English. Extract it and run it to choose WFS, WFO, or both, and whether to add a shortcut to the desktop, Start menu, and/or taskbar (the installer automatically matches your Windows language setting). On first launch, you choose which printer to use.

When opening the file for the first time: if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC," click "More info" then "Run anyway" (this appears because the file is not digitally signed).

For WFO, install your printer maker's FAX-sending driver first. See your multifunction printer's manual for details.

WFO: the printer maker's FAX-sending driver (which appears as a printer) must already be installed.
