Mobile PC Comfort Tool

A free app that turns a PC or smartphone into a dedicated "kids'" or "work" device, just by choosing your settings. Windows and Android versions are available, and this site, the Windows version, and the Android version all support English too (the Android version automatically follows your device language). Computer Check-UpPC AI Doctor brought together the tune-up know-how from these projects and added features that let you restrict how the device is used.

01Use Cases

When kids use it: protecting them

Brings together the settings that let an adult protect kids ahead of time from the things parents worry about — sites they shouldn't see, overuse, unwanted in-app purchases, and contact with strangers.

  • Block harmful sites and apply age restrictions (automatically blocks adult, violent, and other content you don't want them to see)
  • Restrict usage hours (set study time and bedtime, and the device becomes unusable automatically outside those hours — prevents overuse)
  • Allow or block games, and block installing new games (selectable)
  • Restrict shopping sites (blocks online shopping sites, preventing unwanted purchases by kids)
  • Block risky messaging apps (Android version): blocks apps such as Telegram, Signal, and WhatsApp that have recently been linked to scams, criminal recruitment, and contact with strangers, helping keep kids out of dangerous exchanges
  • Incoming call restriction (Android version, experimental): "child phone mode" silences the ringtone and vibration for numbers not on the allowed list, so calls from strangers go unnoticed
  • With a password set, only the parent/guardian can turn restrictions off — kids cannot disable them on their own

When used for work

  • Block personal settings (keep saved passwords, autofill, favorites, and other personal data off the PC)
  • Block personal use (restrict non-work sites, software, and AI chat; set break times)
  • No more worrying about the PC breaking from unnecessary software installs (block software installation)

In either case, setting a password means only the person (admin) who set it up can turn restrictions off. It also works without a password.

02About the AppFree / Available now

Opening "PC-tool.exe" shows a window with several tabs. Tick checkboxes and press buttons to combine only the features you need. Turning a restriction on works right away; turning it off asks for a password only if one has been set (if not, anyone can turn it off). A log at the bottom of the window shows the result of each action.

The Android version, "Mobile PC Comfort Tool," is also free. It covers the basics: choosing apps to block, setting usage hours, and requiring a password to turn restrictions off. It also has a "Block Social Media Apps" feature for apps installed on the device — LINE, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and more — a "Block Risky Messaging Apps" feature for apps such as Telegram, Signal, and WhatsApp that have recently been linked to scams, criminal recruitment, or contact with strangers, and an "Auto-Detect Communication Apps" feature that finds apps the OS classifies as social/messaging even without knowing their names in advance — including new apps not yet in the built-in lists. There is also an experimental "Incoming Call Restriction" feature: only registered phone numbers are allowed, calls from unregistered numbers can be rejected outside usage hours, and in child-phone mode, unregistered numbers can be silenced (no ringtone or vibration). Callbacks from numbers you called are allowed, and you can choose to automatically delete the call log for rejected/silenced calls. If your phone's language is set to English, the app automatically displays in English — no manual switch needed.

03What It Can Do

Tune up the PC

Low-memory fixReviews the page file settings to help prevent freezes
Clean up unneeded softwareLists installed software by purpose so you can choose what to remove or keep. Software that may not run on Windows 11 is flagged
Check messaging app updatesChecks whether apps such as LINE are still a supported version
Block browser adsStops ads such as those shown in browser games
Tidy up the desktopMoves unused shortcuts to a holding folder, so they can be restored any time
Reset wallpaper to defaultYou can also restore the previous wallpaper

Restrict usage

Block harmful sitesSwitches to a family-safe DNS that automatically blocks adult and dangerous sites
Age restrictionForces SafeSearch on search engines and YouTube
Restrict non-work sitesPick multiple categories — social media, video, games, other — to block. You can also narrow it down by keyword (the lists are freely editable)
Restrict shopping sitesBlocks online shopping sites
Restrict AI chat useRestricts use of AI chat services not related to work
Industry-restricted browserSwitches to an allow-list mode where only approved sites can be opened (works with Chrome, Edge, and partially with Firefox)
Block software installationRestricts installing new software. For stronger protection, you can also remove admin rights entirely (an important step, so a detailed explanation and confirmation appear before it runs)
USB drive restrictionChoose from: fully block, read-only, write-only, or restrict by file type (video/photo/other). Plugging in a drive while restricted shows a message, and the admin can allow it temporarily by entering the password on the spot
DVD/CD-ROM drive restrictionJust like USB, you can disable it entirely if it is not needed
Set usage hoursBefore work starts, after it ends, or during breaks such as lunch, a message reading "Outside allowed hours. Shutting down." appears and the PC shuts down. Even if it is switched on outside those hours, the next check (within a minute) shuts it down the same way, so it truly cannot be used outside the set hours. For kids, set "unusable" hours around study time or bedtime to limit PC use to the times you choose
Restrict File ExplorerChoose to disable the right-click menu, Control Panel, the Run dialog, and search
Restrict files on the desktopFolders can still be placed as usual, but files placed directly on the desktop are moved to a holding folder automatically, so the desktop stays tidy
Local area network (LAN) restrictionChoose one of two options. "Hide other PCs" keeps internet access working while hiding other computers on the same LAN. "Fully block wired LAN" disables the adapter entirely (Wi-Fi is not affected)
Allow/block games, block installationBlocks launching and installing listed games such as Steam, Epic Games, Minecraft, and Roblox, together with blocking game websites (the lists are freely editable)
Show explanation when a site is blockedWhen turned on, the browser shows a "Blocked by your administrator" page when a blocked site is opened (Chrome/Edge only). When off (the default), the site simply fails to load with no explanation

Clear data

Clear personal dataClears saved passwords, autofill data, and cookies (e.g. saved sign-in info for sites such as Amazon). You can choose per browser profile, so a profile used for work can be kept
Clear search/browsing historyClears browser history in bulk
Remove from favoritesRemoves only the bookmarks for the sites you specify

Ease of use

Mouse ease-of-use settingsTurn on or off: auto-move pointer to the default button, pointer trails, showing pointer location with Ctrl, ClickLock, and a pointer shadow

04Password and how restrictions are turned off

Turning a restriction on can be done right away. Turning it off asks for a password, which stops anyone but the person who set it up from removing it without permission. If no password has been set, anyone can turn it off without confirmation. Before changing or reverting settings, a backup of things like the hosts file, DNS, wallpaper, and browser data is kept automatically, so the original state can be restored as much as possible.

An "Uninstall" option is also available. It resets, all at once, everything this tool changed — the page file, wallpaper, desktop, mouse settings, site and software restrictions, and more — back to the PC defaults, and lets you choose at the end whether to delete the tool's own folder too.

05System Requirements and Notes

Supported OS (Windows version):Windows 10 / 11 (some items require administrator rights)

Supported OS (Android version):Android 8.0 and later. Since it is installed directly from an apk file rather than through Google Play, you will need to allow "install unknown apps." The Accessibility permission is also required for the app-blocking feature.

Supported browsers:Site restrictions and data clearing mainly target Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. The industry-restricted browser mode (allowed sites only) also partly supports Firefox, but other browsers are not supported.

USB/DVD restriction by file type:This is a simplified version: rather than blocking the copy itself, it changes the file extension of matching files on the inserted media so they cannot be opened. This can always be undone by turning the restriction off.

Block software installation (stronger restriction):Because this removes administrator rights from the current account, a step is included to enable a hidden administrator account and have you record its password first, as a safety net. As this is an important operation, the tool shows a detailed explanation and confirmation before it runs.

This app was just released. We recommend backing up any important data first and trying it on a PC where the impact would be minimal.

Use at your own risk:We cannot accept legal responsibility for any trouble arising from use of this tool, including data loss, PC malfunctions, or loss of network connectivity. Please use it only once you understand and accept this.

Incoming call restriction (Android version, experimental):Requires call log access permission and setting the app as the OS's "call screening app" (both can be done from within the app). This does not replace your default phone app.

For iPhone (iOS) users:We are very sorry, but this tool does not support iPhone (iOS). We do not have a development environment for it, so we are unable to build an iPhone version ourselves. If anyone reading this has a development environment and could compile an iPhone version, we would truly appreciate you getting in touch.
